Who Are We?

Friends of White Plains Youth Bureau (FoWPYB) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the praiseworthy and diligent efforts of the White Plains Youth Bureau located in White Plains, New York.

Why the White Plains Youth Bureau?

The White Plains Youth Bureau (WPYB) provides the hopeful youth of White Plains, New York the opportunity to participate in various personal and communal development programs and activities in an effort to improve the lives of its children and young adults.

The White Plains Youth Bureau offers the following programs:

Leadership and Counseling

Dedicated to our youth’s success, the WPYB leadership and counseling services aid in encouraging healthy emotional, social and academic development by creating a friendly, open-door environment.

Substance Abuse and Prevention

The state of New York reports over 1.9 million cases of substance abuse annually with a large percentage of that number being attributed to youth ages 12-17, according to the New York Department of Health. The WPYB is dedicated to providing preventative education and other resources to the White Plains youth in an attempt to perpetually encourage healthy physical and emotional development.

Employment Services

WPYB encourages its youth to experience the personal satisfaction of bringing home a paycheck. Aside from providing training in various industries, the White Plains youth are connected with local business owners who are interested in hiring part-time, full-time, or seasonal workers.

Sports & Recreation

An active environment with friendly competition provides an excellent opportunity for our youth to learn the importance of teamwork by working together to achieve a common goal. The White Plains Youth (ages 12-24) are afforded the opportunity to participate in basketball, soccer, and flag football teams at a beautiful recreation center in the heart of the city.

Mentoring

The WPYB mentors provide ongoing guidance to children between the ages of 5-21. Enrolled youth receive one hour of counseling per week.

Performing Arts

WPYB offers a performing arts program featuring theatrical, dance, and musical outlets for its creative youth.
